Provo vs Denver

Last weekend I went snowboarding all day and didn't get home until later in the evening. The first thing I did after getting home was to take my dog out for her potty break. It was snowing outside and the side walk was covered with snow. As Princess and I were walking to the park, I could clearly see her paw prints. Interestingly, I saw another set of paw prints on the same sidewalk which belongs to a much bigger dog. But I didn't see any other foot prints other than mine. Quickly, we turned around to go look for the stray dog following the paw prints. And as we turned around, the dog appeared in front of us. Unfortunately, the dog was really shy and we followed the dog for about 10 blocks before we lost him. I hope it survived.

It has been such a cultural shock moving from Denver to Provo. Having a dog is almost a requirement for living in Denver. And people take great care of their dogs.  And you can see this kind of news quite often on TV.

On the other hand, I have encountered at least 10+ stray dogs living here for less than two year. And dealt with aggressive dogs more than twice already. And most of the local news about dogs are pit bull attack stories. And the worst of all, dog owners don't clean up after their animals!!

Seriously, I have no idea why there is such a big difference but am glad that my time in Provo is coming to an end soon and that Princess can have a normal life and make new "balanced" friends!
