Hanging Lake

I have taken numerous road trip between Utah and Colorado in the past several years through I-70. Average travel time is about 8 - 9 hours depending on the weather. It is easiest to travel non stop with one potty break in between. The longer I drag out the trip, the more tiring it gets.

In between Colorado and Utah there are actually several interesting places to see and visit. E.g. the Mining Museum at Price UT, the Colorado Railroad Museum, the Cleveland-Lloyd Dinosaur Quarry outside Price, Glenwood Springs in CO and Hanging Lake in CO. So finally, this Christmas, I decided to split my road trip into a two days trip and stopped by Hanging Lake which is well worth the extra effort.

If you are going east bound on I-70, you get off at
the Hanging Lake exit. If you are going west bound, you can get off at the Grizzly Creek exit and get on I-70 east bound to go to Hanging Lake. There is no Hanging Lake exit on west bound I-70.

The hike is a little over 2 miles, fairly strenuous. There isn't too much snow but some area gets fairly icy and very slippery. Princess has a great time on the hike. I need to carry her at the very end because the steps are huge and very steep. Once we get to the top, the sun is out and the view is magnificent.

Hanging Lake.
This place is unbelievably beautiful. It is 7 degree out that morning so there isn't anyone else on the trail. If you ever need to get on I-70 between CO and UT. This is a great place to stop for fun!
This is a mountain of lice. You can see Ryan on the left.

I am pretty good at balancing!
