Remember Fluffy, the dog that I rescued last Fall? He was reunited with his owner soon after I called animal control. His real name turned out to be Winston and he started coming to the dog park with his owner everyday, rain or shine. He had been a great addition to the dog park community. He was always full of spunk and energy.
Several days ago, a dog park friend of mine broke the news about Winston, he got hit by a car a month ago and they ended up putting him down. It was such a sad news. He got loose and the kids started chasing after him and he ended up getting hit by a car. I am glad the kids didn't get hit by the car but this whole accident can be avoided easily if Winston were to have gotten any basic obedient training as a pup.
Sometimes, dog owners think obedient training is unnecessary but simple commands like sit, stop, wait or drop can be life saving in critical moments.
RIP Winston. We will miss you.
